Style - Fast food restaurant
The restaurant is in building that was built as a fast food restaurant. Outside, there is a small wood smoker encased in walls to match the rest of the building. I do not know how they can produce enough pork for the restaurant and catering business in that small smoker. They must have a smoker elsewhere (or shudder, gas).
Ordering is at a cash register. They give you a glass to serve yourself a drink from the usual machines and then bring your order to the table.
My lunch was a regular pulled pork with four (count'em, four) hushpuppies, regular slaw (they have BBQ slaw as well), potato salad and tea. The hushpuppies were nothing to write home about, as was the slaw, but the potato salad was real homemade. It was a little tart for my taste, but the texture and quality of the potatoes were excellent. The pork was wood smoked with a decent crust, but a little bland. I used the on table sweet dark sauce on the meat, which helped. The sauce reminded me of Danny's, which is good.
For fast food bbq, it was above average, but for great fast food bbq, visit BBQ Ribs & Co is Siler City and elsewhere.

Dixie belle's in Apex is a welcomed restaurant. The menu has alot of items besides BBQ, I have tried a few different dishes and can honestly say the food, service and quality is fantastic.
Dixie Belle's is on top of my list for real home cooking and pulled pork BBQ, like my dad used to make out back. I have had most of everything on the menu and can honestly say greg cox was right on recommending this place as a must try and saying the brisket was the best in the triangle.
i saw the place when it first opened and had the brisket and it was't that good. i thought it was kind of tough. Last night I was sitting at work trying to decide what i wanted to eat. Danny's was closed and Red Hot and Blue was a but pricey so i decided to give them a try. Ordered the brisket again and was blown away by the improvement. It was so tender it was falling apart when i speared it with a fork. and the flavor was just right. I will def be going back more often. My coworker had the pulled pork and we ended up swapping some with each other. The pork was excellent as well

We love Dixie Belle's. Pulled pork and ribs are awesome. Plenty of sauces to choose from. Potato salad, must try. Pulled chicken, not so much. Relaxed atmosphere. Inexpensive since don't have to pay wait staff and I can only get upset with myself if my glass gets empty. Lots of food for money!
Acceptable? That's really pushing it. Dixie Belles belongs in the category of "At least it's edible."
Dixie Belle's is o.k. if you've never had good bbq before. It's expensive, and the menu is annoying. It seemed like the menu was designed to make you spend the maximum amount of money. I wanted a bbw plate with macaroni and cheese and collards, but that costs $10. $10?! Yeah, $10. The VEGETARIAN collards were nasty. And, who makes vegetarian collards??? I guess it's healthier that way, but when you order a Big Mac, do you tell them leave off the meat and special sauce? Collards have to be cooked with pork, or else what's the point of even trying?
In spite of Dixie Belle's being only a three minute drive from my house (really only 3 minutes), I would still drive 15 minutes to get food from a place on 55 in Durham.
The fried chicken was decent, but if I want friend chicken, I'll go around the corner to Bojangles where it's cheaper.
I think Yankees like this place because they just don't know any better.
